Antique Victorian Arts & Crafts Bloodstone Signet Ring

A scarce and wonderful late Victorian Jasper speckled Bloodstone signet style ring in the Arts & Crafts style ornamented with trailing hand worked leafesque shoulders all in 18ct Gold. The design holds much symbolism; of protection as well as prestige; the Bloodstone itself representing strength and courage.

Created by an artist with inspiration taken from the ideals of the Arts and Crafts Movement, the style of this wonderful ring is very much of it's time and distinctive in that the movement was very much one which was initially centred in the British Isles and was a countermovement to the Industrial Revolution that focused on the notion of artisanal craftsmanship, and original pieces of jewellery of this quality are a scarce find.

'Beginning in the 1860s Morris, Ruskin, and their followers advocated the return to skilled craftsmanship and an over-arching aesthetic influenced by traditional styles such as the Gothic. Morris’s interior design firm became famous for its wallpapers, textiles and stained glass.'

A ring such as this a wonderful statement piece. It is a ring size 'P' or '7.5' but only a small adjustment possible.
