Antique Hand Cut Diamond Mengagement Ring

A fabulous antique late 19th century Diamond stirrup style ring in the revival style which referenced Medieval jewels and was highly desirable at the time.

From The Metropolitan Museum; 'The stirrup ring, with its distinctive form that suggests both a horse stirrup and a gothic arch, was in fashion from the twelfth century well into the fourteenth century.' See images.

Wonderful quality in solid heavy 18ct yellow Gold (it weighs 7.8 grams) which has developed a gorgeous and tactile patina, the lovely old hand cut Diamond is set smoothly in the gently tapered band. Faceted in the cushiony way with slightly irregular surfaces but a most captivating fire, it measures at around 0.90ct and is beautifully clean and white in contrast to the glow of the yellow band. It is a task to judge the actual age of a Diamond such as this as it could have had several previous lives and certainly an illustrious history. Such a pleasure to rehome such a treasure!

The ring size is a 'Q' or '8' but we could easily alter a little to suit if you leave a message on your order form.
